Retro Contemporary
This typical Mid-Century house in Pacific Grove underwent a total transformation from both aesthetic and performance standpoints. It was crafted to achieve Certified Passive House status by the Passive House Academy and LEED Gold certification. As we do with every home we build or remodel, we employed the latest sealing and insulating techniques and materials as well as advanced systems for heating and cooling.
This approach, combined with photovoltaic panels, significantly reduces the consumption of fossil fuels in the home. Floors in the new second story incorporate wood reclaimed from the original house, while wood ceilings and eaves are Forest Stewardship Council certified cedar. Tiles of recycled aluminium in the kitchen and natural, sustainable and no VOC materials are highlighted throughout this contemporary abode with a decidedly retro interior feel.
