Skyline Forest Modern
In the mid-2000s, “green” practices hadn’t yet made it into the mainstream of residential building. We were a little ahead of the curve. At no extra cost, we applied advanced framing techniques, low VOC finishes, eco-friendly landscaping and other green principles. The result is a house that surpassed the minimum California energy requirement by 30 percent and obtained a high score on the Build it Green New Construction Checklist. And most important, we surpassed the clients’ expectations. The circa 1940s home once belonged to the wife’s parents, and while the couple loved the site, the house didn’t meet their needs. So a new home was built on the treasured site overlooking the Monterey Bay. The clients were sent project updates via email and only visited the site two or three times during construction. They trusted us to do everything right. One special request was to use their favorite manufacturer for kitchen cabinetry. And our cabinetmaker created custom sizes and shapes throughout the rest of house to match.
